''Once I'd qualified, I found it quite uncomfortable going into plumbers' merchants but now it's absolutely fine. Now that they know me, they realise that I've got the credentials and knowledge about plumbing so I've got their respect.''

Learning Providers: Schools, Further and Higher Education

Find local contacts through TechNet for ideas, help and advice on setting up a local Widening Participation event in your learning institution – whether it’s local women students in SECT to talk to schoolgirls making subject and career choices; a female academic to inspire girls about the subject she teaches; a practising female engineer with insights to offer women in higher education, or a local craftswoman to talk about her work at an open event aimed at recruiting women – make local connections with women in SECT through TechNet.
Contact us for leaflets and posters to let students and colleagues know what TechNet can offer – from networking and mentoring to local sources of information.
Link your institution to TechNet through free training for a member of staff in a relevant role as a TechNet Co-ordinator. This will enable you to link to the TechNet website, to receive a handbook and resource pack, and to publicise your institution’s involvement in TechNet.

Send us news of your institution’s Widening Participation events and courses aimed at women – we will post your news on the website.
